Am I a Geek or a Nerd?

This is something that has been annoying me as I am told there is a difference between being a geek and nerd. But can you be both if there is a difference? According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary a ‘geek’ is “an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity (computer geek)”. Now I wouldn’t consider my self an expert in many fields but an enthusiast definately. Mostly people refer to me as this due to...

A reason to Love Cork

I love Cork and I am very patriotic about my home town, and events on Saturday made me love it even more. At the weekend my boyfriend was up from Kerry and he stayed around town on Saturday and we met up for lunch. At all times I was with him in town we were holding hands. Did we get a reaction? No In fact most people registered no reaction especially Irish people. A few people stared and in...

Dilemma – To sue or not to sue

February 9, 2007
By Stephen

Well today I had a 2nd meeting with an Advocate Worker of the Irish Advocacy Network, and it looks like I have a possibility of redress against my former employer, as it was a ‘constructive dismissal’. I have a dilemma, do I take on a case and the workload involved, lots of paper work, and secondly I have two avenues I can take. I can go to the Equality Tribunal, hopefully with help from the Equality Authority under a...
