Image via Wikipedia Estonia is set to join the Eurozone on the 1st of January 2011 according to the Irish Times. Estonia was given the all clear by the European Commission. Estonia will be the fifth of the 2004 intake to join the common currency following Slovenia in 2007, Malta and Cyprus in 2008 and Slovakia in 2009. Plans by Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic are still not on track, so they will not be joining the currency...

Two more acts chosen. [Eurovision 2010]

Image via Wikipedia After I finished my post last night, Cyprus and the Netherlands completed their selections for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Cyprus went for Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders with “Life looks better in spring”. It is a nice gentle song. It doesn’t stand out for me though. The Netherlands had all ready picked their song, ”Ik ben verliefd, Shalalie”, and was just matching it up with a band. They went with Sieneke. I am not sure...

So Cian of Irish Election let us know the news that Máire Geoghegan-Quinn has been nominated to be Ireland’s EU Commissioner in the next College. I personnally think that is a great choice from the Government (its not often I say that!). Geoghegan-Quinn has a great track record at home and in Europe and will be sure to get a good portfolio. Maybe Budget, Administrative Affairs or Audit and Anti-Fraud. This is good news also for the Gendered Balanced...
