The Election Moratorium

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland have launched a consultation on their  Broadcasting Code on Referenda and Election Coverage (PDF). While reading through the draft code, I came upon an issue, should the same Moratorium be applied to Referenda and Elections? In the case of elections I can...

This is covered under the Presidential Elections Act 1993. Under Section 16 of the act a Council is given the right to nominate a candidate. The only...

The Election Moratorium

There have been a few questions asked about the Election Broadcasting Moratorium which is changing this year in comparison to previous elections. This year, broadcasters will be allowed to cover the election up until 2pm on Thursday. From the BAI Guidance Radio and television broadcasters shall observe a moratorium on coverage of an election. The moratorium will operate from 2pm on the day before the poll takes place and throughout the day of the poll itself until polling stations...

UK Election in Videos

Image via CrunchBase While procrastinating I cam across some really interesting youtube videos concerning the UK Election. So I decided to post a few of them. First up is a viral from the Independent. I really like and points out the faults with all three parties. The Truth Behind the UK Election I also enjoyed Yahoo’s look at what people on the street think of the election. Total Politics put together a video encouraging people to vote. Its a...

UK Election 2010

Image via Wikipedia I haven’t yet blogged about the general election in the UK. For me this has been one of the most interesting ones to watch. That is where watching UK elections get boring. No matter haw much you play with swing calculators and polls the Lib...
